My perennial favorites are Chado Ralph Rucci, Naeem Khan, and J. Mendel. I am adding another great, English Designer Jenny Packham to the list.
Packham is a favorite of Kate Middleton and while her press notes said the collection was inspired by seventeenth-century Paris salons---"where strong-minded women met to discuss arts and culture, all I could think of was twenty first-century Kate.
In the past two seasons, she has retailed strongly in the U.S., where her feminine, luxe cocktail dresses and gowns garnered new clients that are fast becoming fiercely loyal. We started selling Jenny Packham at Richards/Mitchells this past Fall. Women who were hosting important events were particularly excited because they were a little edgy and definitely special.
Tuesday's show at Lincoln Center was a hot ticket. In the front row, I spied Vanessa Hudgens, Jada Pinkett Smith, Hilary Swank and Zoe Saldana, all who would do Packham's spectacular evening wear due justice.
It was hard to cull out just a handful of my favorites, and believe me when I tell you, photographs don't begin to capture just how beautiful they were, gliding on gossamer wings, down the runway.
