Two Newbies from Nuance Salma Hayek

Nuance by Salma Hakek
$19.99
Since debuting her Nuance line of cosmetics and skincare at CVS, Salma Hayek has continued to share her love of beautifying women of with products, inspired by her grandmother. All of her skincare is paraben free, noncomedogenic, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and not tested on animals. Most are infused with vitamins, peptides and natural fruit extracts with the goal of nourishing and protecting the skin. Women of all ages, have embraced it.

I had the opportunity to select some of her latest offerings and opted for Smooth & Firm Perfector and Tinted Eye Brightener.

I know I should be wearing at least SPF 20 on my face daily, but often skip it because I don't care for the zinc oxide like color and texture SPF often imparts.. When I read  Smooth & Firm Perfector described as a, "silky, age-defying formula which melts into skin, filling lines and wrinkles and locking in hydration" with vitamins and SPF 20, I knew I had to try it. It also contains, "natural licorice extract to help control hyperpigmentation and even skin tone".  What could be bad???

I'm a little confused about what Smooth & Firm Protector is...I don't know if it is a moisturizer, a primer, a serum or a hybrid of all three. I applied it on top of my moisturizer and serum.  It does have a silky texture, there was zero chalky residue and my makeup applied beautifully over it.  Improvements in texture, tone and wrinkle reduction were seen by a small panel at 4 weeks. I think I saw an improvement in one use!  I'm an instant grat kinda Girl and if I can look better now and even better in a month, I'll stick with it and I do feel good about protecting my face with SPF 20 daily.

Nuance Salma Hayek
$19.99
Next up was Nuance Salma Hayek Tinted Eye Brightener.  I love that it is described as an advanced peptide complex that helps to minimize the appearance of dark circles and sculpt the eye area for fresher, vibrant, more youthful-looking eyes...sounds good to me, don't you think???

Whenever a new "eye brightener" is introduced, I always try it. Usually, they have either a pink or ivory cast, often with a subtle, (or not) amount of "sheen".  Nuance Tinted Eye Brightener has neither and none...it's a rich sheer camel.  I checked the package to see if it came in different shades and if perhaps I was sent the darkest one, since I do have a penchant for fake baking, year round...

Nope.  Nuance Tinted Eye Brightener comes in a single shade.  I wasn't sure how this was going to "brighten" my eye area, since the color was darker than my concealer, but of course I was game to find out.  It glides on with a self brush and I blended it with my pinkie.  I then applied my concealer over it.  The key ingredient is blue agave which has "age-defying properties that help soothe, hydrate and firm the skin both instantly and continuously".

The results are very subtle.  I found it to be a terrific primer for my concealer and my under eye area looked fresh, smooth and flake free, requiring zero touch ups, throughout the day.

One of the really nice aspects of Nuance skincare is that the products aim to instantly improve our appearance while delivering real improvements with time, care and continued use. Considering the quality of the ingredients, I they are affordably priced...particularly if you click on this link and buy them now at CVS on sale.

Have you tried any of Nuance Salma Hayek's beauty products?  I'd love to hear your experiences. For me, so far so good.

  1. I absolutely love the Nuance line!
I've tried some (ok a lot) of the products from Salma's line and I've done reviews on them too but these two I have yet to try, I think I'll try the eye brightener next. Only product that I've tried that I had to return so far was the Super Secret Moisturizing Cream (I think that's the name) it had such amazing reviews and I was sure I'd love it but the smell was just...not pleasant lol. I hope she releases more products!

  2. I am crazy about her lip gloss. Have you tried it? It looks beautiful on, is not sticky and tastes delicious. I'm thinking of trying the eye brightener on my face (!) I'm still a little baffled why it is tan.
I have found her body line of scrubs, washes and creams to have very distinct fragrances that have not agreed with me either.

    Thanks for commenting!

  3. Oh I completely agree about the smells. Her products are great but the smells are usually a hit or miss. For instance, the blue agave curl cream, I thought the smell was ok but I've read reviews of people comparing it to mens shaving cream! Did you try the pear body wash?

Oh and yes the lip gloss is diviiiine!

    Great blog post :)

  5. I am from Brooklyn NY but now live in Wichita KS, when I was in NYC for vacation last year I stopped in CVS for my usual walk thru to see what was new in skin care lol well I stumbled upon the Nuance line. I was intrigued by the variety of products. I scooped up several; the oxygen cleanser, the super anti-agin pm/am cream the eye creams the spot corrector......and I loved all of them. The cleanser was the best! Then just recently I purchased additional products that were kinda new. Her skin care line is amazin all wonderful results for me! And I have super sensitive skin. I have fallen in love with her BB cream and her hair treatment mask black currant and shampoos are dreamy. When I ordered online at CVS they sent me a sample of her 3 in 1 lip color this is amazin people try her products you will become an instant fan.
