Hmmmm....well pretty much, I feel like a total dope.  I recently was having my hair blown out at my happy place, the  sleek and chic, Becker Salon in Greenwich, by the young and talented Elianny.

When she finished, she said you know, "there's a small patch in the back that needs some help. Shall I get the Color WOW?"

This award winning product continues to be a leader in the temporary "root problem" category.  I had bought, returned and posted about it back in 2013.
My problem with Color WOW, was that even using the larger side of the brush, the coverage wasn't that good and it seemed unnervingly time consuming. Albeit a bit messier, wasn't it easier to just spray away gray???

I thought so...

Every time I step into Becker Salon, (which I might add, is at least once a week :), I instantly feel calm As you enter, every client is greeted warmly and with the full attention of Armann and Paul at the front desk.The next thing your eye takes in is the beauty of the sleek, all white Italian design, framed by sunlight streaming through the exposed windows. I've never been there when there wasn't a luscious little treat on hand to tempt and all of that is before meeting with a member of their creative talent, on hand to pamper and make you look and feel beautiful.  Services include, hair styling, color, makeup, manicures, pedicures waxing and brows, (with the fabulous Pina), and massage. 

Since doubling their space and moving to Greenwich Avenue last February, partners Becker Chicaiza and Nathali Ocampo have achieved their dream; creating one magnificent space and place to take care of all your beauty needs. (Wedding parties are a also a specialty.) 

It's a triumph!!! Visit just once, and you will understand why this oasis of warmth, calm and caring really is my happy place. Oh, and I didn't even mention the massage chairs at the shampoo station. Delete any notion or previous experience you have had. If I could, I would just come their just to nap...No detail for your comfort as been overlooked.

Whenever I read about something new in the beauty for fashion world that intrigues me, I pop it in a virtual folder.  I had read an article in the NY Times, about Dr. Neal Schultz, a respected NYC Dermatologist, who has performed over 55,000 gylcolic peels in his office. Dr. Schultz believes that Glycolic acid is the "gold standard" of chemical exfoliation. (So does Diva.)

In addition to his in office treatments, he developed a line of his signature products called BeautyRx. He then took a good thing one step further...Dr. Schultz created a pop up Peel Bar at Butterfly Studio in the Flatiron district. I was at Becker Salon yesterday having a perfect blowout with Marcia, when I decided to first try the peel on my hands.  Eden, who is passionate and knowledgeable about Dr. Schultz peels and at home products, guided me though the simple process: cleanse, apply the 40% Glycolic solution, wait 2 minutes, neutralize and moisturize.  There was no discomfort, just a mild tingling.  Eden said the hands and their glowing results, ($25) are often the gateway to consenting to a facial peel.  The instant results can be maintained with use of products for at home use and a monthly visit.

Below are my results pre and post peel. My right is visibly brighter and less mottled looking. Naturally, I wasn't leaving without a matched set.  Look closely again at the my hand in the second picture compared to the first....

Loved it! I think the results speak for themselves. Next time, I will have a facial peel ($50) and the hand peel. (Only $60 when performed together). Seriously good stuff.

A DIY Beauty Miracle: removing blackheads simply at home

I know via my blog, that many of you feel you know me and I love that, but truly when it comes to my beauty whims, I must satisfy them instantly.

Case in point; a few weeks ago on a Monday, I noticed how straggly my ends were looking. With Becker Salon closed, I knew I was about an inch too close to taking matters into my own hands.

Which brings me to Sunday and the insane way my beauty axis aligns with the world. As we all do, I receive tons of alerts and emails. Suffice to say, delete, delete, delete. 

Today however, an aberrant thing occurred... I actually opened my "Popular on Pinterest This Week" email and began to scroll.

Lately, I find myself slipping down the professional blowout rabbit hole, more and more frequently...It's not just that my stylist Lucas Magnum at Becker Salon in Greenwich gives me a fabulous blow out, he does, but that it always looks shinier and healthier than when I do it.

Why is that???

Partially, it's product, though I have all the good ones too.  I like that fact that their shampoos are never rushed, and every client will sit for a few minutes with their freshly conditioned hair wrapped in a steaming towel for further absorption. Also of course technique, brushes (multiples often are wrapped and rolled while Lucas works on other sections) and the best blow dryers.

Still, I can't always have it blown but I need to achieve a better result than the puffy, dry hair I seem to be ending up with lately and for sure, I have been slacking on deep conditioning.

OMG this is an amazing product!!!  This is the first dry shampoo I have ever tried that is invisible, yes, you heard right, invisible...no chalky white, tell-tale powder residue.

I have noticed advertisements for Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret, in several magazines recently.  It's an innovative, patent pending curl system that essentially sucks half inch sections of hair into an "automatic curl chamber" and then spits out the perfect curl.

As my dear friends Janice and Loren frequently remind me, "stick to blogging". They know first hand from the front lines, (after many failed attempts at teaching me Mah Jong), that there is a little chip missing from my brain that does not do spatial well.

Pro Curl Secret comes with several warnings about making sure, "the front of the chamber is facing the head".  I had visions of it getting lodged in my scalp and having to be hacked out with a machete.

It scared me to death, but naturally, did not stop me from accepting the opportunity to try one, when offered the chance to review it.
