Back in November, The New York Times ran an article in their Thursday Style section, on skincare that has it roots in Grandma's kitchen, like Salma Hayek's Nuance line for CVS.

Here's the thing...I prefer every drop of science that can be squeezed into my skincare.  Why?  Because I find it more efficacious, (though I will admit natural stuff sometimes smells fantastic.)

I think all of the OTC peels, exfoliants and serums plus the wide use of lasers and Botox have done a superb job of keeping our fine lines and wrinkles at bay and I don't think there is a thing Granny could have cooked up that competes with it. 

What this has left the beauty industry wide open to address, is the other bane of women's aging concerns; SAGGING SKIN. Yes, gravity is our enemy and the longer we stick around the further toll it takes on our necks and jawlines.

I love when my beauty stars align!  I was inspired to create this Polyvore around the lovely Salma Hayek,  who graced the red carpet for the premiere of the new summer blockbuster, Savages  on Monday night in a jaw dropping green Gucci gown.
Her beauty team at Kaplow P.R. sent me a step-by-step on how she achieved her naturally, flawless look.  Naturally, . Lucky Me and Lucky You: A Nuance Salma Hayek Giveaway

Last week, I participated in the finale of Richards fashion show at the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greenwich's annual luncheon.  The experts from Warren Tricomi graciously donated the time of some of their stylists and makeup artists  to do backstage beauty.

I was delighted to meet Monica,  who enjoys a flawless reputation for applying flawless makeup...

"What will you be wearing", she asked as I sat down for my tweak.

"A Black Label Giorgio Armani sleeveless ruched black silk tunic, matching pants and an embroidered fur trimmed J. Mendel shrug".

"Sounds fabulous!  I would love to add a pop of red to your lips and do a smokey cat eye. How does that sound"?

"Heavenly!  Too bad we don't have time for a lesson.  I've never mastered the technique".

I loved everything Monica did and tried to study exactly how she did my eyes so I could  recreate the look at home... Suffice to say, BIG FAIL.
