I admit to being a fan of Taylor Swift's 'Street Style', though I do think she is very image/paparazzi conscious.  Somehow I doubt we will ever catch her rolling into Starbucks in  in rolled up sweatpants and a crop top, (you wouldn't catch me dead looking like that either, come to think of it.)

Here, nothing quite "matches"; mint skirt, lemon and white check sweater, cayenne colored sandals that look straight out of a Naturalizers catalog, cat eye glasses, a taupe handle top bag and her signature red lip...yet somehow I don't hate it.

Maybe it's her penchant for  a retro ladylike that I find refreshing, but here and most days, in my book, Taylor can do no wrong...

I saw this beautiful Frida Kahlo painting an a recent issue of Mexican Vogue.  I was unfamiliar with it entirely.

Like her own life, which was rife with pain, as a result of a traffic accident that shattered most of her body and pierced her uterus, it could not be separated from her work.

Her tumultuous marriage to the great Diego Rivera was also a source of her angst.

She did however, enjoy acclaim during her life.  In 1939, the Louvre purchased a painting she loaned for exhibit, giving her the honor of being the first Mexican artist to be purchased by the Louvre. 

Frida Kahlo died at 47, after a year of serious illness.  It is not known whether or not it was a result of an accidental overdose of pain medication as an autopsy was never performed.

I wrote in closing of my Polyvore description for this set: "such beauty and talent. I'm sorry her life wasn't more joyful".

As it turns out, she herself said in her diary days before she died, "I hope the exit is more joyful.  I hope not to return- Frida"

I hope it was and then she found happiness thereafter...

Polyvore my guilty pleasure, (that is at least less fattening than wine or dark chocolate,) frequently runs contests.  This one, was on how you style your "wardrobe staples", the summer sandal.

I have always been a enamored with leopard prints and this adorable J.Crew ankle strapped wedge immediately appealed to me. I love to pair animal prints with neutrals, crisp white and a touch of black.

I would also not hesitate to subtlety mix an animal print with something like this delicate pin dot, Red Valentino skater skirt. Finishing touches?  A gorgeous toe, a neutral bag, a mix of bold and delicate jewelry, a dash of Hermes and always, a good whiff of Balenciaga Paris.

Review: MAC Mineralize Lipstick

I went back to the MAC counter on Friday, but didn't brave the mall again.  I was curious about the lipsticks and gloss that Indian Makeup Blog paired with my Holy Grail Lip Pencil Soar so I went back to Bloomingdale's to see them up close.

Lovely as they were, they were too light for me. My last lipstick purchase from MAC was a huge disappointment. MAC has several different collections of lipsticks.  The one I chose was from the 'Satin' collection. It has languished nearly unworn for months.  The texture was as dry as paste...don't asked me what possessed...

I did of course ask if anything was new, and the lovely young woman who helped me was excited to show me the lipsticks from their new "Mineralize" collection.
I immediately honed in on 'Grande Dame' a gorgeous rose that manages to be both natural and bright. It looked perfect for Spring.

MAC's SOAR: The Ultimate Lip Pencil

There are a few things that I consider my "Holy Grail" products.  Years of trial and error have taught me they are at the top of their class and nothing can top them...despite this, I am still at times either fickle or lazy and purchase other products.

Without question, MAC's SOAR Lip Pencil, (which I have written about many times before) is the perfect, natural, rosy, nude.  Since it is such a universal shade, one would assume there is a version of it in every beauty collection. Not SO.  Not even close. Even if it appears to be close, it won't be once you see it in sunlight.

I knew it was time to toss all my other look-a-likes, so I made a trip to Bloomingdale's, the only free standing store in my vicinity that sells MAC, since I am mall phobic. Tragedy struck, when I found out they were not surprisingly sold out of SOAR,

Good God, that meant I had to go to the Westchester Mall.  Those who know me, know my sense of direction is non-existent, so I might be able to enter it, but exiting is dicey...
