DivaDebbi's Summer Must-Haves for Stacy Knows

DivaDebbi's Summer Must-Haves

One of the great joys of writing a blog is that it expands your world. Readers, bloggers and media contacts become friends.  New businesses owners reach out to meet you and there are often launches and events to attend in NYC.  (One of the reasons I started DivaDebbi, 2 years before my son left for college, was in anticipation of my empty nest. My behind had been welded to sports spectator benches for 13 years...what was I going to do with the extra time?)  Good call.

Stacy Geisinger , a "Girl's Girl" and ultimate people connector, started her fabulous "blogazine Stacy Knows , 8 years ago, at the same time I started writing DivaDebbi.  Just as I was the always sharing my beauty and fashion tips with my friends, Stacy is every one's go-to Girl for connecting them to whatever was new and happening in Westchester County and now the Hampton's. She heard, the refrain, "Stacy Knows", often enough among her social circle, to make it Blog title. Love that!

We have been on each other's radar for years and not surprisingly, have mutual friends.  Our worlds finally collided at Richards, where I am the Personal Shopper. Stacy was shopping with her best friend Camille, who turns out is an old friend of mine.  Hugs and kisses all around!

Stacy is a fan of my Polyvore fashion sets and asked if I would like to collaborate from time to time on our blogs. Whoop, whoop and yes! So by way of introduction, now you too know Stacy Knows, and if you live in our neck of the world, it's truly a daily must read.

Above is a fashion set I curated exclusively for Stacy Knows, which includes the biggest summer fashion trends.  You can find these looks at every price point, so being on trend, has never been easier. Summer fashion is always a bit disposable anyway...

Beauty Emergency! Oh and Michael Kors

DivaDebbi and Michael Kors at Richards
(lashes intact)
I've been a Personal Shopper for over 20 years.  Within that time I have experienced dozens of fashion emergencies;  broken zippers, sensors left on dresses, imploded seams, peek-a-boo linings... I've seen it all. A few weeks back, my husband literally sewed me into a gown that would have benefited greatly from two more hooks and eyes. My mistake? Not heeding my own sage advice to my clients--always try on an altered garment, well in advance of when you will be wearing it, not 15 minutes before you have to be out the door.

Late Thursday afternoon, I had my first beauty 911.  Michael Kors was coming to Richards to present his Fall 2016 Runway Collection to a small group of devoted clients. I considered this a special enough occasion to glam up with a half fringe of false lashes in the morning.  30 minutes before arriving, my eyelash strip was hanging by a lash...

What Diva Wore 3/3/15

Dior "Tribal" earrings, VS& You headband (stretched by my seamstress to wear as a collar), Giorgio Armani Maryjanes, Victoria Beckham LBD

Tuesday, was the second year Richards hosted a fashion show exclusively devoted to handbags and shoes. The models boogied down the runway which was partially scrimmed, so all the audience can see is the handbags and shoes.

Anya Hindmach Tote with available to purchase separate "sticky" attached

The purpose of the event, was to kickoff the "Old Bags Luncheon", an annual event hosted by the Greenwich Y, to support Domestic Abuse.  Funds are raised by the generosity of donors and by auctioning both new and used handbags. It is a stellar, quintessential, Ladies who Lunch, luncheon and is already sold out with a long waiting list. Chaired this year by Alease Fisher and her stellar committee, I won't be a bit surprised if they break all previous records.

I chose to wear my newest LBD, a perfectly cut sheath, with a sleeve. by Victoria Beckham.  IMO, it is nearly impossible to put a sleeve on a dress and not have it lose its je ne sais quoi.  It's a mean feat, but VB does it better than anyone, because the fit is still long, lean and body conscious.

Altuzarra Spring 2015

Altuzarra Spring 2015

Joseph Altuzarra's show was one of my absolute faves of the Spring 2015 Fashion Week. Some how he managed to make every look both demure and sexy and as always, thoroughly modern.

Lovefest...

Spring Ahead...Finally!

Despite the continued cold temperature, my spirit is still blooming looking at all the fabulous, fresh fashion at Richards in Greenwich.  This month, I will celebrate my 14th anniversary as their Personal Shopper, working exclusively by appointment clients who prefer complete one-on-one attention.

To all my lovely, loyal clients and friends who have been with me for nearly 20 years in Greenwich, I think you know, you mean the world to me, and I have enjoyed every moment of assisting you and your families with seasonal wardrobes and milestone occasions.

Here's to many more...and of course, I always enjoy meeting new clients so if you have always thought you would like to work with a Personal Shopper or Stylist, call me! The beauty of having a relationship, is trust. It is my solemn mission to only sell you what fits you and your lifestyle and flatters you perfectly. (203-622-0551203-622-0551). Why would we do less?

Before each season everyone always asks me what are the major trends of the season?
It's always amazing how key colors and ideas find their way into every important collection. Here is how Spring 2014 took shape:

Go Global
Designers the world over created dresses and ready-to-wear with ethnic prints in rich, saturated hues:

Valentino
The Row

Peter Pilotto
Etro

Oxford Bound
The allure of cool crisp shirting, showed up in many designers collections in dresses, over slim pants and pencil skirts:

Brunello Cucinelli
Giorgio Armani

Valentino

Pop Art
Echos of Roy Lichenstein, Peter Beard, Frank Stella and Jean Miro could be found in designers collections.  Bright pops of color were woven onto knits and printed onto silks, with photo prints also popular:
Akris Punto

Alexander McQueen

Phillip Lim

Flower Power
Lush blooms were featured prominently adding a dreamy feminine glam to many collections reminiscent of exotic locations:

Giorgio Armani

Dolce and Gabbana

Stella McCartney coat

DivaDebbi Blogs for the New York Group for Plastic Surgery

As a long time patient of the New York Group for Plastic Surgery, I was honored when they asked me to guest Blog for their website in October, honor of Breast Cancer Awareness week. I trusted them when I needed them most, when I chose to do preventative surgery and now, to help me look my best...

Guest Blogger: Beauty and Fashion Expert DivaDebbi Offers Her Perspective on Breast Reconstruction, and a Night of Style!

Trust is everything...

My name is Debbi O’Shea and I am a long-time patient of the NYGPS.  I am also a Personal Shopper at Richards, a specialty store in Greenwich, CT, and write the beauty and fashion blog,http://www.divadebbi.com/

My introduction to the NYGPS was as a breast reconstruction patient.  My decision to do an "Angelina," or a prophylactic mastectomy, was made after finding out I was BrCa 1 positive, four years after my breast cancer diagnosis. Believe me, this is not a decision any woman makes easily.

Ultimately, the compassionate care and the beautiful outcome I received made one of the most challenging times in my life completely doable.  Dr. Salzberg and his entire staff couldn't have been kinder or more reassuring.  I did my surgery 13 years ago, way ahead of the curve and with little support, since prophylactic mastectomy was less common at the time.  NYGPS were my cheerleaders and I am incredibly grateful that my breast surgeons, Dr. Roy and Andrew Ashikari, work in tandem with them.

Dr. Salzberg has taught his direct to implant, or "one step," reconstruction method all over the world. Though my surgery came right before this particular procedure was available, his brilliant advance saves women undergoing mastectomy fr om having to go through months of uncomfortable breast expansion and a second surgery where permanent implants are placed.  I always encourage friends to call me if they know of someone newly diagnosed.

Yes, trust is everything…

When it came time to address my own anti-aging beauty concerns, the NYGPS was the only place I would consider working with. I am always comfortable feeling like we are collaborating on which non-invasive procedures are right for me, and knowing ahead of time exactly what to expect.

As a beauty blogger, I receive many offers for free services in exchange for blog coverage.  I am never tempted to accept them.  Why would I incur the risk of looking frozen or unlike myself by unknown hands?  Besides with the NYGPS costs are competitive, generally less than NYC and with their new rewards program, loyalty and referral "points" accrue quickly — a win-win for all. I am also excited that they are adding a full-time aesthetician to address additional aging concerns with facials, peels, microdermabrasion and resurfacing lasers.

On Tuesday November 12, the NYGPS is once again joining me at Richards in Greenwich, CT from 6—8 pm for a presentation on looking your best for the Holidays and beyond.  We invite you to join us for this fun and informative night of fashion and beauty.  The event is complimentary, but reservations are necessary. We would love to see you there! Please feel free to bring a friend:www.Debbio@mitchellstores.com or www.Mitchellstores.com.

Creme de la Creme

Creme de la Creme
I love the dichotomy of soft and crisp that comes from mixing nude and ivory.

I have received some lovely feedback from those of you who are enjoying my Polyvore creations.  I'm glad you are enjoying my fantasy closet as much as I am in putting
them together.

These (Really) Are a Few of My Favorite Things...

Ah....the Holiday's at Richards!!!  In my role as their Personal Shopper, I especially love the Holidays. I have known many of my clients since our children were toddlers. The years have fostered some lovely friendships, and in turn nice relationships with their spouses, many of whom rely on me for year round gift counsel.  Whether or not we've done a little pre-scouting before my email with picture attachment is sent, I'll never tell.

"Aren't you tempted every single day "???  I'm frequently asked.  In a nutshell, YES!!! I have been fortunate to enjoy a lot of the things that I'm convinced I "couldn't live without"..  Are there things I still covet?  Naturally, but I'm also happy when my clients receive there hearts desires or fantastic surprises too.

After all these years, I'm still, "like a kid in a candy store".  Take a peek below and you will understand why:
