DivaDebbi: What to Wear July 4th Weekend

DivaDebbi: What to Wear July 4th Weekend

BCBGMAXAZRIA white mini dress / MICHAEL Michael Kors maxi dress, $110 / Madewell eyelet top, $140 / Splendid cotton jersey, $93 / Acne Studios linen skirt, $220 / Alice + Olivia red short shorts / Gianvito Rossi ankle strap shoes, $680 / Joie wedge heel sandals, $315 / K. Jacques leather sole shoes, $240 / Converse white flat shoes, $60 / Dolce Gabbana red leather handbag, $2,050 / ECCO handbags crossbody / Christian Dior transparent sunglasses, $480 / Steve Madden straw fedora hat, $22 / Agent 18 tech accessory / Pottery barn area rug /

The fabulous Stacy Geisinger, asked me if I would create a Polyvore set featuring suggestions of what to wear this weekend, to your 4th of July Celebrations for her of the widely read blog Stacyknows.

Honored to be asked and happy to oblige...

I like the tradition of doing a bit of red white and blue, particularly if you are going to a party, picnic or barbeque.  Loving white lace, stripes, chiffon, off the shoulder tops, luggage color flats, sneakers, and lace up sandals and espadrilles.

If you are going to a party, don't even consider showing up empty handed. I never abide by the, "just bring yourselves" directive. In a pinch, a beautiful bottle of wine or a good tequilla or vodka are usually welcome.

And if you are absolutely stuck about what to wear, your white jeans are always an option, though I would love them best right now if they were cropped and flared.

Happy 4th Lovelies and a safe one too.  Stacy, big kisses and my thanks for thinking of DivaDebbi to enhance Stacyknows...and truly, she does.

xox,
DD

Altuzarra Spring 2015

Altuzarra Spring 2015

Joseph Altuzarra's show was one of my absolute faves of the Spring 2015 Fashion Week. Some how he managed to make every look both demure and sexy and as always, thoroughly modern.

Lovefest...

Cheek to Chic with Charlotte Tilbury

Makeup Artist Charlotte Tilbury and her BFF and Muse Kate Moss

British superstar model Kate Moss, has made a superstar out of her British BFF and Makeup Artist Charlotte Tilbury.  I don't think anyone could really muck things up on Kate, but Charlotte Tilbury really wants us to have the best shot at being our prettiest self.

Though not yet available in the U.S., my friend Linda Levy brought her handiwork to my attention via a video on Net-a-Porter before I left for London.  We were both mesmerized.  Interestingly, her product is not available on their website.   Linda beseeched me to check it out at Selfridges and bring her back a goodie. How could I not comply?

Fashionista Of The Week: Debbi O’Shea, Founder, Diva Debbi Fashion Blog

I was so honored to be asked by the MIMI, who writes the fabulous Haute MIMI, the internationally acclaimed fashion, beauty and lifestyle website, to be interviewed as her Fashionista Of The Week.

MIMI is also an expert on Social Media and her clients count on her to keep their brands on the tip of our tongues.  I was delighted that she also chose to include two of her favorite Polyvore sets that I created.  IMO, Polyvore is the next great platform for Social Media, since in addition to the millions of monthly views it generates among worldwide fashion lovers, product is available to purchase through links to the worlds' largest shopping site.

Thanks MIMI!  Our interview is below:

Fashionista Of The Week: Debbi O’Shea, Founder, Diva Debbi Fashion Blog
By MIMI on 21 Jan 2013

I met Debbi O’Shea, or “Diva” as she is called affectionately known, at a recent Glam Media event and we (along with our style) clicked! She is the Personal Shopper/Stylist at Richards in Greenwich, Ct. Beauty and Fashion obsessed since birth, this “Girls Girl” has always shared her secrets and finds. Her blog DivaDebbi, founded in March of 2008 was her way of reaching out to a broader audience. Quickly picked up by both Glam Media and TotalBeauty, DivaDebbi is now read globally by women who appreciate her candor and humor. We sat down with Debbi to get her take on style! Check out her blog Diva Debbi here. xoxo MIMI

HM:Describe your style in one word.
DD:
Glamorous!

HM: Who is you favorite fashion designer?’
DD:
Gilles Mendel. I think he has a fantastic eye for creating wearable drama. He cuts to flatter an woman’s assets and his fabric choices are always exciting and unexpected. In terms of fur, no one designing today has Gilles unique modern aesthetic. If you are going to wear fur, you don’t want it to look like you inherited it from your Grandmother.

HM: What is your dream travel destination?
DD:
A week in Paris shopping eating and devouring the museums followed by a week of plopping at a glorious spa on the Amalfi Coast…A Girl can dream, can’t she?

HM: What would you pack if you could only bring one item?
DD:
My Michael Kors black jersey halter jumpsuit. Timeless, packable and chic.

HM: What makes you feel glamorous?
DD:
I love having my makeup and hair done professionally for any occasion. Isn’t it spectacular what a good set of false lashes can do? And try as I might, my version of a smokey eye is never as flawless and blended when I attempt it. I love to dress up and have an amazing collection of cocktail attire. If I get to top it off with fur and some statement jewelry I’m completely in my element.

HM: What is your best-kept beauty secret?
DD:
I do facial exercises twice a day and often perform them when I am driving, and it’s not pretty, lol. But truly, they work. I don’t understand why people think it makes sense to tone their bodies, but leave their faces blobby.

HM: What advice would you give to those who are aspiring to make it big in the fashion industry?
DD:
Be patient and pay your dues with a smile. We all did the unglamorous, tedious stuff in the beginning. Oh, and don’t call in sick and come in with a new haircut the next day. Been there done that…nearly got fired!
