DivaDebbi's Best of Skincare 2012

I tried a number of products this year that are absolutely fantastic!  Why?  Because they do exactly what they purport to do  Bravo!  Below are my new anti-aging faves, that leave me glowing, with links to purchase:

1) Murad's Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel ($60) A true miracle product, this clear, lightweight gel rapidly and effectively lightens and brightens skin.  It was far more effective then the prescription cream I once got that turned a funky shade of muskrat around the top of the applicator.

Genius...

2) Murad's Intensive-C Radiance Peel (49.50)  Just like it promises, this peel will leave your skin glowing after the first use.  I apply it every Sunday morning for 15 minutes, while I sip my coffee and watch the morning talk shows. It's a peel that won't make you peel...just glow and a little goes a long way. I am not even close to using half of a tube that is 6 months old.

Look for it on next year's Hall of Fame list...

3) Murad's Renewing Cleanser (6.7 oz. $35) Yes. Another winner from Murad. I tried several cleanser this year and this by far, my favorite.  As with all Murad products, you need very little to get the job done, so if they seem at all pricey to you, bear in mind you will be using them for quite some time.  This cleanser whisks away my makeup, gently exfoliates and never leaves my skin feeling tight, dry or stripped, just dewy and glowing.

Ding, ding, ding...

4) Clarisonic Mia ($119) I held out waaaaay too long before springing for this product, which was highly touted by my friend Kari at FaboverForty, whose reviews I put complete faith in.  NO...No matter how clean you think you are getting your skin with your regimen of choice, you can and will do better with a Clarisonic Mia. The additional benefit?  Any cream, serum, lotion or purchase you use afterward will work more efficaciously.

A Game changer...

DivaDebbi's Best of 2012: The Hall of Fame

It's that time of year again...As usual, I have tried a ton of new products this year and whether I purchased them myself or received them to sample, I have done my best to always tell you the good, the bad and the ugly of their benefits and features.

I wanted to start off my Best of 2012 lists with products that I continue to love and use, and that I feel are peerless, having tried many of their competitors. I purchase them over and over for one reason: They work!

In no particular order, I am never without with links to all:

The Big Book of Chic by Miles Redd

The Big Book of Chic

Yesterday I received the most divine Xmas gift from one of my favorite friends and clients, The Big Book of Chic by Miles Redd.

Miles Redd is a N.Y.C. based Interior Designer whose aesthetic runs the gamut from bold and glamorous to modern whimsy. Strong color, lacquered surfaces, tufted velvet and touches of animal prints are woven magically into his designs.  They are heavenly.

As I lounged in bed this morning feasting on it, with a large cup of coffee on my bedside table, I felt as if instead,  I would have done Redd's work more justice in a satin bed jacket with a silver tray bedecked in Hermes china afoot.

As L.G. and I mused through The Big Book of Chic in my office, we both admired the bedroom in the set above and how divine it would be to have a fur throw like the one featured.

I also included a charming Lucite handbag, that was featured in my friend Q.'s fabulous Lifestyle blog Quintessence.  Q.'s sister recently was in Amsterdam and visited the Museum of Bags and Purses.  Yes Darlings,
this sublime place does truly exist and she treated us to some images of the amazing treasures housed there.

I dedicate this blog and Polyvore set to these two incredibly stylish ladies who bring joy, friendship and beauty to my life with lots of love and my best wishes for a Happy, Health New Year.

DivaDebbi's Holiday Giveaway's: Go Figure

Founder Cindy Sites leading a Go Figure Class

Over the past few weeks, I have been sharing some of my local sources for beauty and wellness with my readers and doing product giveway's for those who are not geographically accessible to my dream team.

Go Figure Barre Studio has been my exercise haven for the last 12 years.  Developed by owner Cindy Sites, Cindy developed a method of exercise that incorporates best of Pilates, yoga and classical ballet technique, toning and lengthening every muscle group in one uber challenging hour. Cindy and her team of rigorously trained instructors, are sticklers for teaching proper form, ensuring maximum safety and quick results.

Most Barre classes have their roots in the Lotte Berk Method.  Lotte Berk, was a German born ballet dancer who fled the Nazi's and settled with her family in England.  Marginally successful as a dancer, Berk worked with an Osteopath and created a method of exercise that focused on "core stability" and flexibility.

Go Figure embraced and refined this philosophy, replacing core maneuvers that often landed students at the Chiropractor's office with safe and effective work.  As a result my back is stronger and healthier than ever.

Decadence: Grace Coddington's Hot House Flowers

Decadence

I literally gasped when I came upon Vogue's Creative Director Grace Coddington's, magnificent collaboration with  photographer Steven Klein in January's Vogue.

Entitled, "Hot House Flowers", Grace gives us her take on Spring. It is in turns, lush, minimalist and decadent.  I adore her sensibility.

I was immediately inspired to create a Polyvore set using one of the more esoteric images.  One can only imagine what's in the trunk...

Fashion lovers, don't miss the January 2013 issue of Vogue.  The delightful Gwen Stefani graces the cover...

DivaDebbi's Holiday Giveaway's: A gift of youthful beauty

For many of us, December is a very busy month socially, in a blink we've gone from 4th of July barbeques to Holiday Cocktail parties.  In the last month I have seen friends who looked refreshed and radiantly beautiful and some who looked overly botoxed and frighteningly filled.

How to you avoid the latter?  Below is an excerpt from a previous post I wrote about Botox with my point of view.  At that time, Courtney Dunavent, P.A. with the New York Group for Plastic Surgery generously offered my readers a 10% discount on their first appointment for any of her services. This time, to help you look natural and refreshed in the New Year, Courtney has agreed to offer DivaDebbi readers 15% off their first appointment!
