The Hedge Fund Wife
The Hedge Fund Wife by divadebbi
For a certain type of lucky NY woman, say the wife of a Hedge Fund mover and shaker and mother of four, Labor Day marks the end of a blissful summer. in the Hampton's.
While their husbands are in NY during the week making money and their kids are in camp, they spend long days shopping, playing tennis, exercising and lunching with their GF's. It's rife with stress I'm sure. Back to reality...or their version of it anyway.
In my next life, I hope to report on all of it to you first hand...if I'm very lucky!

Linear: Polyvore Top Sets February 17th, 2013
What a nice thing to wake up to this morning. The Editorial staff at Polyvore chose to include my sets on their "Top Sets" Home Page. I particularly loved designing this set, after stumbling upon this stunning, Etro velvet skirt.
Happy Sunday all. What will we all do next Sunday at 9, without Downton Abbey???

Linear
I have long been enormously fond of the magnificent colorful prints that are the signature of the family owned Italian design and textile house Etro.
Season after season, often with their signature "paisley" as a starting point, their cheerful prints are a feast for the eyes as they masterfully blend texture and pattern in coats, dresses, pants and skirts.
Perennially, they are one of the top selling designers at Richards/Mitchells, where I am their Personal Shopper. My favorite way to wear Etro is normally to let one piece be the focal point and pair the rest back to solids.
Occasionally, they do a completely neutral print, like the stunning velvet skirt above. That was the inspiration for all that followed in this set that I created on Polyvore.
Sometimes, the absence of color is even more striking...

Yay! Top Sets on Polyvore Again!!!

Well, this is truly a wonderful week for me on Polyvore. I was honored to have been chosen for Top Sets today (November 23, 2012) and earlier in this same week on November 18th.
In addition to a creative shopping site for Fashionista's, Polyvore also fosters strong friendships via its social media platforms. I have developed friendships with women, literally, all over the world. Each week Polyvore singles out one member to highlight and interview.
Last week, my incredibly fabulous, talented friend Lidia Solymosi, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada was chosen. Her sets are truly spectacular and I am so proud of her. (http://blog.polyvore.com/2012/11/member-spotlight-lidia-solymosi.html)
I created the set above, Dora Maar: Then and Now as a gift to Lidia. My inspiration was Cubism. First came Picasso then came the Etro dress...
I love this medium... My Mother, who has always been a talented artist and fostered my love of Impressionist and Modern art, was at my home for Thanksgiving last night. Her computer has been on the fritz for several months, so she has not seen what I have been up to on Polyvore. She knows better than anyone, that my artistic skills never advanced beyond age 6.
When she saw on my ipad what my brain was able to create on Polyvore, she was genuinely shocked, but delighted! It was such a nice moment for us...it was like a latent gene finally kicked in.
So, my dear readers, it truly is never too late to cultivate a new hobby, talent or skill. I know I focus an awful lot on outer beauty and maintaining it, but truly, a beautiful mind is just as important...

Surprise!!!

Just as I could never sell something to a client that I don't love in my heart and soul, I never use clothing in my sets that I don't love or at least appreciate.
This set is the real me. I have always thought that purple and brown look divine together. I am mad for this Etro Paisley pencil skirt juxtaposed with this drapey Helmut Lang top. I think the Alexis Bittar dragonfly broach is heaven, the Verdura inspired KJL cuff is a great, next best thing, the Tory Burch boots are perfect and the J. Mendel bag is other worldly.
And I am accepting donations...

Happy at last! And then comes...

Call me crazy, but I have always felt badly that Brad kicked Jen to the
curb for Angelina. It's hard enough when these things happen to friends
in suburbia. When it happens to one of Hollywood's golden couples
under the harsh glare of the media it's particularly rough. As a result,
I have always had a soft spot for Jen.
Something tells me this one, her current love interest Justin Theroux,
is the one. I frequent many websites everyday including Red Carpet Fashion Awards and The Fancy for images that capture my interest.
I saved this lovely love shot of Jen and Justin, and shortly after spotted
this adorable tot. It made me smile to think one day, she too, may know
the joys of motherhood.
Am I crazy, or could that be a baby bump beneath that scarf and bag?
Here's hoping...

Spring Ahead
I realized as I was busy making plans with my friend Linda Levy to attend the Fall 2011 Fashion Shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, that I best do a Spring 2011 Trend Report before I start reporting on Fall!
I scoured the collections to find an iconic look that represented multiple trends in just one look. The spectacular Pucci gown above incorporates 4 major trends that were found all over the Spring runways: Brilliant Color, (which we have already seen all over the Red Carpet), Seventies Influences, an abundance of Prints and generous use of Sheer, floaty fabrics. As we slog our way through yet another winter storm, reviewing all these divine pictures today renewed my hopes that one day, very soon, the sun will shine, our lawns will be green and our boot clad toes, will once again, be exposed.
