Review: L'Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner 24H

L'Oreal Lacquer Liner
$9.95 (but if you buy it in Greenwich Ct. add 2 bucks)

Oh joy!!! I am in love.  I have long been a fan of Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner.  I would never attempt to use it without the separate brush you must purchase to apply it with, or after a night of one too many cocktails.  It takes a skilled and steady hand and it is not for Sissie's.

Most of us know our faces fairly well in terms of it's makeup requirements.  While I intellectually embrace that as we age, we should be mindful of over doing makeup, when I under-do my eyes, I  know I look tired.

What is no longer working is black eyeliner.  I am brown eyed, so switching to brown liner seems like a no brainer but it somehow misses and looks bland.  I was in CVS last night, so naturally I perused the aisle for inspiration.

I stumbled upon L'Oreal's Infallible Lacquer Liner 24H  and looked through the color options.  It's available in 5 shades: Blackest Black, Espresso, Bronze, Dark Slate and Navy.  I took a gamble on the Dark Slate, though in the glare of fluorescence it was reading more slab than slate.

Infallible Lacquer Liner has a beautiful glossy finish. It was much darker than it appeared in the store and it glided on like a dream. The brush is pitch perfect and the consistency of this liner is much easier to handle than my formerly beloved  Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner.  The best part was how much softer and more elegant the dark grey looked than black.

It was created to last for 24 hours, one claim I will not be test driving. For one long snow day, however, it has not budged. This is my first makeup love of the New Year.  The fact that it is what I call "cheap and cheerful" makes it all that much sweeter.

Run don't walk to your nearest 24 hour drugstore...unless of course you live in the N.E.  In that case, dig out in the morning and then go.

This, officially, is a rave.

  1. I agree, this is a fantastic product. I am like you, brown eyed, middle age and black doesn't look good anymore. I often try brown or navy but am very excited about a Dark Slate option, it may become my holy grail!

  2. Hi Janney,
I always hope navy will work too and some how it doesn't. I hope you like this as much as I do. Let me know!
