A Perfect Coat
Burberry pink dress / Burberry coat / H&M zip ankle boots, $50 / Dolce Gabbana studded purse / Boohoo tassel earrings /
I've always had a thing for coats...My husband no longer even mentions it when he spots me sporting a new one...I bought another one yesterday in fact, a creme brulee cashmere number, knee length and back belted. It looks like something Catherine Deneuve might have unhappily worn in La Belle du Jour.
Divine.
A good coat will does get an awful lot of wear...particularly if it's a winter one and it's this winter. I think they are fabulous investments...some people believe good shoes and a good handbag are the perfect foil for Top Shop and Zara finds. I'm not in disagreement, I just think a good coat is the icing.
Fashionista's have been sporting this fabulous Prada coat all over Europe, including Anna Dello Russo, editor-at-large for Vogue Japan. The woman in this set, wore it during Fall 2014 Fashion Week. Really, its the whole story...nothing under it is of consequence.
Burberry showed some wonderful coats in London Tuesday. I think the one I styled at right is a keeper.
Maybe it will even be mine. A Girl can dream, can't she???

I adore seeing the young actress Hailee Steinfeld looking like such an elegant young lady in this pretty Dolce and Gabanna dress. I also loved that she paired it with classically pretty Prada Mary Jane's, rather than the overtly clunky Brian Atwood "Maniac Pump" that the stars could not pry off their feet last season.

I have been watching the Academy Awards for as long as I can remember. I love film and adore fashion, so for me it's a night I always look forward to.
I truly think the world stopped spinning on its axis in 1995, when Uma Thurman, nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Pulp Fiction, stepped on to the Red Carpet in this lavender Prada ensemble.
I was as breathless as the scene in the movie where Uma, dying from a cocaine overdose, is brought back to life by a shot of adrenaline administered straight to the heart by John Travolta.
It also sent me wistfully back to my childhood, where I would stare enviably at my favorite Walt Disney fairy tale heroine Cinderella's spectacular transformation.

Fashion mayhem literally ensued... Together, Uma and Miuccia Prada changed the face of what was chic. Swathed simply, in layers of lavender organza, Uma looked ethereal and anyone in her path suddenly looked stiff and overwrought...
I live for these moments, and even more so, for the Tsunami's.
Anyway, of course you know I am in full count down mode as I write this for tonight's Academy Award's Red Carpet. I will be pen, computer, BlackBerry and iPad in hand, tweeting and taking notes for my Flips and Flops for my annual DivaDebbi's Academy Award's Red Carpet Report Card.

Stylish Power Couple: Beyonce and Jay Z
I was as disappointed as anyone to hear that Beyonce lip synced the Star Spangle Banner at the Inauguration. Faux pas aside, she and Jay Z couldn't have looked more elegant.
Sunday night at the Grammy Awards, they again looked splendid and rightfully held court. I think Beyonce is a stunner and I love how she looks gracing the cover of March Vogue.
I created this set in homage to her style, which I see as being elegant with a touch of sass.

Girls will be Girls...
I'm mad for this Chloe embroidered lace coat...this is the type of piece I think is worth investing in. Why wouldn't you have it for the rest of your natural life???
I also love this silk, sleeveless Moschino top with a charming "makeup" print. It reminds me of the pleated "lipstick" skirt Miuccia Prada designed in 1996. I sold it to one of my favorite clients and she wore it to shreds.
'Charlotte' wore it in an episode of Sex in the City. I was delighted to see it again this summer at the Met's Costume Institute's Schiaparelli/Prada Impossible Conversations exhibit.
Naturally, I regretted not purchasing it. I don't think I will make the same mistake twice...
