TotalBeauty's 9 Best Cream Blushes...and Mine!

TotalBeauty is one of my happy places.  Their beauty editors and writers are top notch, they publish DivaDebbi on their website and they compile results based on thousands of loyal readers detailed product reviews. As a result, they often put together Best and Worst Of slide shows, based on the aggregate ratings. I always end up taking notes.

This weekend they featured their 9 most highly rated cream blushes. While I was surprised that my HG cream blush, Makeup Forever High Definition Blush did not make the cut, I was delighted to see two cheap and cheerful entries; Revlon and NYX Cream Blush. I'm on the tail end of my third Makeup Forever HD Blush and I will definitely be trying one or the other based on their shade offerings.

Did your blush make the cut???

Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Blush Duo

Despite claims to be long lasting, I still found I needed a midday touch up, but I'm OK, with one, instead of three or four.

This is my first Kevyn Aucoin purchase.  Kevyn, an extraordinarily talented makeup artist, who was devoted to enhancing women's natural beauty. At the tender age of 21, he was named Creative Director at Ultima 11, and launched The Nakeds, a groundbreaking concept at the time.  He collaborated frequently with photographer Steven Meisel on many Vogue covers. He launched his own brand in Kevyn Aucoin Beauty in 2001

Sadly, he died at 40, from liver toxicity. He had a brain tumor and his dependency on prescription painkillers and acetaminophen killed him.

A gentle soul, he had many friends in the industry.  A book that reviewed his career, tips, techniques and celebrity interviews, Kevyn Aucoin: The Success, Struggles and Beauty Secrets of a Legendary Make-up Artist was publish posthumosly in 2003.

His makeup line, reflects the aesthetic always favored, soft, natural hues, to enhance the beauty he believed every woman had within her.

Worthy then, worthy now...a true visionary.  Better late than never...

Good to the Last Drop: Make Up Forever HD Blush

Makeup Forever High Definition Blush
$26

From time to time, I think about taking a picture of my oft cleaned out, but still bulging makeup drawers and posting it for you to see.  It's a graveyard of half used lipsticks, concealers, eye shadows, mascaras and liners.

It's incredibly rare that I glom onto one product and use it until I'm scraping out the last bits with a Q-tip, but such was the case with my Makeup Forever HD Blush (210 Cool Pink). It's a cream formula that sculpts and defines the cheek area beautifully.

It's also can be very difficult to replace, particularly shade 210. 3 trips to Sephora yielded no success. Somehow, I missed the restocking days, so I ventured to Ulta, who sadly doesn't carry Makeup Forever
at all.

On my last trip back to Sephora, I agreed to pay for it up front and have them send it to me free of charge.
It's on it's way, thank goodness.  So, I guess it's time to elevate Makeup Forever HD Blush to Holy Grail
status.

Ya.  It's that good...
