FNO, started in N.Y. in 2009, on the heels of a reeling economy that nosedived in 2008. Ms. Wintour wanted to help jump start spending, by encouraging people to go out and shop! Three years later, this Vogue sponsored event, that kicks off Fashion Week in N.Y., has grown to 27 cites around the U.S. and 15 countries!!! In addition to creating a fantastic party, that all are invited to, the event raises money for charitable causes, based on proceeds of sales. This year, it also includes many online opportunities to particpate and receive gifts with purchase.
I doubt that some scattered showers will but a damper on N.Y.'s enthusiasm for FNO. Every major retailer and fashion district from Soho to Madison Avenue will be opening their doors and welcoming the crowds. Special events and surprises abound.
