Lip Lock: Does Maybelline's 24 Hour Super Stay Stay?

I have tried several long lasting "liquid" lipsticks before.  Most are formulated as a three step process; apply, dry (embalm)? and the revive with a clear balm. They worked, technically, but always made by lips feel like sandpaper.  Still, the thought of not having to reapply my lipstick a few dozen times a day fills me with hope...
I had not read or heard anything about Maybelline's 24 Hour Super Stay lipstick.  I have been a wee cranky with Maybelline since they sent my all time fave, Petal Pink, a long lasting, plumping lipstick packing, way too soon, to the beauty graveyard (http://divadebbi.blogspot.com/2011/02/beauty-graveyard.html).  I was happy to give it the benefit of the doubt and popped  Infinite Petal 080, an eerily similar pearly plum into my CVS basket and hoped for the best...

Rather then applying it in the car, like I usually do, I wanted to apply it on perfectly clean lips.  I waited till I got home and removed my lipstick completely, applied 24 Hour Super Stay, let it dry for 2 minutes as directed and than test drove a turkey sandwich.  Then I ran to the mirror.  Still there!  Determined to really see how this product performs, I made a vow to use nothing else on my lips for the whole night.  I reapplied some of the clear balm and took off for a graduation party.  My lips were not uncomfortably dry as I worked my way through a few hors d'oeuvres, a Diet Coke and a glass of Chardonnay.  Next up, off to NYC for dinner with my family in honor of my Aunt Dee Dee's Birthday.  I reapplied a little Infinite Petal    on the FDR and a coat of the balm before entering the restaurant, sneaking a peek in the mirror.  Still ticking...Dinner, dessert, coffee?  Game on. Back home, back to my host's for post mortem party discussion in the kitchen and bites of left over fruit salad.  Lips locked.

I'm feeling really good about this, since it's starting to feel like I'm tatooed and may never need to apply lipstick again.  Even after my makeup removal routine, I can still see traces of color and even woke up with the soft pink lip hue only found on infants.

So for the time being, Maybelline, you are back in my good graces.  Super Stay 24 Color lives up to its name and of the genre, is the least drying.  Now just don't go and discontinue it on me, kk???
