Holiday Hair:101

While I would like to believe that mastery is always possible, my limitations in the school of spatial perception is perhaps a hair higher than the pre-school level.  Case in point?  Remember those illusion drawings?  Did you see a Young Lady or an Old Crone?  I could always only see the Young Lady...no matter how it was explained, I never saw the Crone, (e tu)?

Recently, at a private party in N.Y.C., I took a trip to the Ladies room. The doors were festooned with a W and an M...seemingly.  I'm not sure if it was better or worse that this was a party amongst friends, because I ended up you know where, and it wasn't their hats that were in their hands--  I'm still cringing at the memory of it, (even worse, much like the Lady and the Crone, I still couldn't see how that M wasn't a W).

Where is all of this leading? To a reasonably good solution, for those of you, who, like me cannot master how to use a curling iron, if their high school equivalency diploma depended on it.

I get a pit in my stomach every time I see big, soft, barrel waves, not just on the Red Carpet like Lea's gorgeous glossy tresses, but effortlessly created by anyone who can twirl, in the right direction.  Ditto those who can achieve adorable little flips with their flat irons.

Sooo...what is my find?

An inexpensive Conair Styling Brush, which I stumbled upon during a routine CVS/Pharmacy run. It's kind of a hybrid curling/flat iron.

It heats up quickly, but doesn't heat to singe.  The barrel in small in length, so it forces you to take your time and curl a manageable amount of hair.  It comes in several widths, 1 inch ball-tipped bristles being the largest. The 3/4  inch was the only option, but for $16.99, I was willing to take a shot on a solution that was easy on my wallet.  Naturally, it comes with instructions on how to achieve different looks, but I instantly glazed...la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.

It's not a perfect solution, but a really good one. The result is pretty, finished looking hair, that is virtually idiot proof to master.  Another advantage?  It's small enough to fit in an average handbag, perfect to bring along for day into evening touch ups in the Ladies room....,,

That is, if you can find it.

  2. Hi Loren!
Is this Loren my Sis? If so, maybe it's genetic!
Just looked again...still can't see the Crone!
This is a really good cheap and cheerful find.
