Stila: Perfect & Correct Foundation

Stila Perfect and Correct Foundation
1 oz. $44

It's rare for me to finish any makeup product down to the last drop.  I'm extremely fickle and too much product comes my way to sample, for me not to have often, simply moved on.

I did however, use every last bit of my Stila One Step Bronzer.  It's the finishing touch to my makeup each day.  This gorgeous mix of bronze and rose fuses together in a lightweight cool gel.  I use one small pump in my palm and that sweep it over my forehead, nose, cheekbones and chin with a Kabuki brush.  It's an incredible product and oh so much more flattering than powder bronzers that look either too matte or worse, frosty.

I Wear Pink for...My family, for me and for all women

I Wear Pink for...My family, for me and for all women

I am very proud that Polyvore chose my set to feature on their home page as a "Member Spotlight" for this set (10-8-12). It such an honor! My set was selected from many thousands and viewed by over 200,000 people in just one day!!! I also received dozens of lovely messages from supporters. What a beautiful gift.

*Update: Today Polyvore created a new page that highlights all that is going on with trends, stars, members etc.  They again chose to feature this page.  It has now been viewed by over 500,000 people all over the world.  Really, I'm speechless...

It's October, which of course is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It will be a parade of pink, but it's all for a very good cause. I am also proud to be speaking at the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greenwich's annual fashion show and luncheon on October 25th. This incredible organization has raised and donated millions of dollars to research every year since it's inception!!!

That is a huge WOW and I am pleased to have Co-Chaired this years Silent Auction, which we feel will be a great success.   You can view and bid on our items by clicking on this link.

As a nearly 16 year survivor, I am ever grateful to my family, friends, Doctors, clients, employers, fellow fundraisers and Polyvore friends for their unwavering love and support.

Truly, great strides have been made from the money that is raised for continued research, so do be generous. Truly, there is hope, because on many levels it's already here...

To your good health and mine,

Hail to the Queen

I was doing a CVS run the other night for the stuff you actually might need from the drug store...of course I had to peruse the cosmetic aisles first. I wanted to revisit gel eyeliner, after hearing great buzz about Maybelline's new version...good luck with that. Apparently, they can't keep it in stock anywhere. NEXT!.

I have whined before, about the dearth of lip liners available in a natural looking nude rose, that might blend into my lip line. Mass or class, it's nearly impossible to find. Believe me, I have swatched every one's repertoire...it's the Hope Diamond of beauty. I, for one, never understood the whole MAC Spice hysteria...why would I want pecan colored lips?

Lo and behold, I found myself in front of CoverGirl's Queen Collection. It makes perfect sense, to market Queen Latifah's radiant beauty to African Americans and it made me wonder why CG hadn't thought of it sooner, (I also wonder what QL's friends call her...anyone)???

I would have thought a display featuring Queen's (?), collection would be vibrant and hip, but it looked dour and muddy and could easily have been missed. I still couldn't resist checking out the lip liners. Who woulda thunk it??? Q135/Plum lasting lip pencil was looking spot on. $6.99???... I'm in.

The next morning, I tested Q135 on my hand with the last remnant of Clinique's Plush Pink, (which maddeningly, still has a few inches left, but will have to be trashed, because the ill fitting sharpener no longer fits on the end).

Ohhhhh happy face! I can barely tell one from the other, can you??? If I ever have the opportunity to see QL, I love to tell her how happy I am that she solved this beauty conundrum for me. I still have no idea how I would address her...so maybe I will just curtsy.

Miss and a Hit

I am going through a wee patch of the January doldrums, so I decided to visit my local Sephora. Best of all, I could buy something new without having to take my clothes off.

I don't know how or when it happened, but I do know that I am not shelling out $29.00 for a Lancome Lipstick. Uh uh. Not gonna happen.

Dior??? YSL??? Maybe in a weaker moment, but with just 5 minutes before closing, I set my sights on buying a new lipstick and I wasn't going to spend more than $15.00 bucks. Good luck!!!

Some brands are know for just one thing and I should have known I was in uncharted waters, went I picked up a Bare Ecsentuals Lipstick. Mineral makeup, yes. Lipstick??? I would have to wait till I got home to find out. How bad could it be???

Quite possibly, the worst I have ever tried. This was the least emollient lip anything I've ever experienced. It wouldn't budge right or left, just congealed in the center of my bottom lip. Perhaps they are sediment based.

Sephora, will honor reasonable returns, with a receipt, which I appreciate immensely. Back I went, but this time, I was going to stay within budget and leave with a winner...drum roll---Clinique's High Impact Lip Colour SPF 15.

Light weight, yet densely pigmented, smooth flawless lip coverage, with up to 8 hrs. of wear (translation 2 hours and 2 cups of coffee), and came in under budget at $14.00. Hugely impressive. Did I love it as much today or was it all aisles and mirrors???

Drum roll...Loved it!!! A perfect storm of value and quality and I will be back for more. Just thought I'd share that with you.
