Vitaphenol-Would You Like to Try It Too?

I was contacted  recently by the team that is launching Vitaphenol by La Jolla Spa MD a new line of anti-aging skin products, developed by Dermatologist and Plastic Surgeon Michael P. Goldman M.D and C.E.O Dianne York-Goldman.   I am asked to sample  a lot of products, but this simple program caught my attention;  Formulated with mangosteen, pomegranate, green and white tea, vitamins A, C and E, CoQ10, bilberry extract, glycolic acid, grapefruit extract, caffeine and hyaluronic acid, these are the most cutting edge, natural ingredients to firm, tone, sooth, plump, reduce hyperpigmentation and accelerate cellular turnover...and oh yes, "visibly reduce the signs of fine lines and wrinkles", (where have I heard this before)?!

Even more nicely, they wanted to giveaway the Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser ($45), Anti-Aging Toner  ($45),  Rejuvenating Serum ($95-$205, depending on skin type) and Daily Defense Cream ($95),  to one of my DivaDebbi readers...love to share the wealth Girls, that's nearly a $400 value!

The Weekly Round Up

A little sidebar to my lovely subscribers, some of whom I have been breaking bread with on Saturday nights when DivaDebbi hits your Blackberry or IPhone. No...I didn't ditch you while I went into the ladies room to attend to blogging biz, (nor am I sitting home on Saturday nights tethered to my computer).  It's 9:30 am right now.  Whenever I publish, it hits your mailbox about 10 hours later... hope that 'splains it since lots of you have asked!

Here is what me and my Blogging Buddies were most obsessed with this week:

Bottom Line - Do We NEED A Bottom Lash Mascara???

My sister Loren asked me the other day what I thought about Clinique's new mascara created specifically for lower lashes.  "Ridiculous", I snapped back.  "Well, I think they are going to sell a million tubes of mascara", she retorted.   Try a 1,000,001...I was in Sephora yesterday and caved.  Who knew it was going to be so darn cute???  At $10.00, it's practically a freebie.

I haven't really worked my bottom lashes since the Maybelline Great Lash days of my youth.   Most experts don't advise more than just one light coat, to keep things from looking Tammy Faye Bakerish..  I am still using two mascara's and contemplated purchasing Cliniques Primer Coat today, but fortunately, mustered resistance. I am truly liking L'Oreal's Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara, much more than I thought I did.  It presents full, clean, thick lashes that never flake or smudge.  It's a winner.  For additional oomph, I still like using L'Oreal's Telescopic Explosionwith the ball applicator that resembles a weed whacker, to pull every lash to maximum length and find the hidden ones in the nooks and crannies. I was so excited to try Clinique's Bottom Lash Mascara last night, that I seriously contemplated removing my eye makeup and reapplying it right then and there.  Fortunately, I mustered resistance till this morning...

Oh-Tay,  so what was the verdict?  Well, the entire applicator is the length of my middle finger and the brush itself is minuscule...why did I have to have this again?  I did one eye with the Voluminous Million and on top and then the Clinique Bottom Lashes.  I also used the Clinique Bottom Lashes to  lengthen the tops and seek out hidden lashes, which it does effectively.  The other eye, I used Voluminous Million only, top and bottom. Here is a pic of how they came out:

Can you tell the difference???  Me either.... My right eye (left pictured) is the one I used the Clinique Lash Bottoms on. Using such a small brush on my lower lashes was more time consuming.  It was effective for bringing out smaller lashes from the inner and outer corner.  That's about it folks.

My sister had it right on two counts, it is a very clever marketing ploy and Clinique will sell a ton of mascara from their newly created niche market.  Her other point?  It will quickly be copied for the mass market and available for half the price at your local drugstore.

I should have waited...

P.S. I have been offered the opportunity to giveaway $400 of Vitaphenol Skin care!  If you want to throw your hat in the ring, please read Sunday's blog: http://divadebbi.blogspot.com/2011/02/vitaphenol-would-you-like-to-try-it-too.html

The Real Housewives of Fashion Week

Back to the Tundra...I relaxed poolside on Monday and came home to a fresh "dusting' of snow at night, that I will begrudgingly admit, looked lovely.  I wasn't so cheery this morning when I left the house minus 60 degrees of warmth...Oh well.  I am backtracking a bit and sharing a few tid bits from my adventures at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with my friend Linda Levy (above),  whose husband Peter runs the joint for IMG.  Rest assured, there is no better backstage pass for these two Housewives...

The Weekly Round Up

Blissfully, I am escaping the cold and enjoying a perfect patch of weather in Florida. I had all the best intentions of blogging away and at least delivering some scoop from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, but I am a skillfull proscrastinator, particularly while sitting in the sun and catching up with old firends...not happening!  Fortunately, I can count on my Blogging Buddies to deliver.  Here's what the gang was up to this week:

Surfing Sephora

At the recommendation of my equally beauty obsessed cousin Karyn last Christmas, I ran out and purchased MAC's powder blush in "Dainty".  Our coloring is similar and I could see how this would also be a perfect choice for me...it was, for well over a year.  Last week, I finally hit rock bottom.  The only challenge was replacing it.  MAC purchases are a bit off my beaten path.  Sephora, however, is directly on it...

The Beauty Graveyard

Has this ever happened to you???  You find your Holy Grail beauty product, albeit a foundation, mascara, liner, blush, lipstick or gloss and then one day,  poof...it's GONE!!!  Who makes these reckless choices???  Do write-in campaigns ever revive them like cancelled sitcoms?  Do the "new and improved" ever really match the original???  Not likely. In a pinch, there is always Ebay...

Pretty Simple

One thing I am not, is a good cook....that doesn't mean however, that I don't love good food!  In my next life, I am going to have a personal chef, (who also does all the marketing, prep, cooking and clean-up).  I would eat three, delicious, perfectly balanced colorful meals a day and indulge in an occasional sweet.   In this life,
I reviewed these simple, tasty recipes by celeb fitness guru David Kirsch, trainer to the lovely Heidi Klum and the lithe Anne Hathaway and thought they not only sounded good, but I could actually make them.  So whether you’re a football fanatic or just watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, game day celebrations  I thought I would share these simple recipes with you.

Getting to Know Charlestongirl from Best Things in Beauty

This week, we meet the lovely Charlestongirl!  I am always curious to see what she is excited about each week and what I now cant live without!  In addition to gravitating to all the best things in beauty, she is  extremely tech savvy.  When I blew up my blog over Christmas, CG spent hours trying to unmuck my mess...I will never forget her kindness.  I am thrilled to discover her daily beauty routine is actually more complicated then my own... I didn't think that was possible.   Without further ado, meet Charlestongirl:

Spring Ahead

I realized as I was busy making plans with my friend Linda Levy to attend the Fall 2011 Fashion Shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, that I best do a Spring 2011 Trend Report before I start reporting on Fall!

I scoured the collections to find an iconic look that represented multiple trends in just one look. The spectacular Pucci gown above incorporates 4 major trends that were found all over the Spring runways: Brilliant Color, (which we have already seen all over the Red Carpet),  Seventies Influences, an abundance of Prints and generous use of Sheer, floaty fabrics.  As we slog our way through yet another winter storm, reviewing all these divine pictures today renewed my hopes that one day, very soon,  the sun will shine, our lawns will be green and our boot clad toes, will once again, be exposed.
