Lisa Hochstein's Makeup Tips and Tricks

Yesterday I brought you my interview with Real Housewife of Miami's Lisa Hochstein. I know a "Girl's Girl" when I see one, and my instinct that Lisa loves her makeup was spot on. 

Fans tweet and email her often for  beauty, diet and exercise tips, so she started her own website so she could share her advice with a larger audience.

I too, was curious about her perfect skin and makeup...granted, Lisa is 30 (!),  but I recognize flawless technique when I see it and I was happy she gave us her step-by-step, including products.  I have used all of these except for the Chanel Pressed Powder, and I will also attest to their superiority.

Many of you have been asking what foundation/concealer I use to get that airbrushed look. I can’t stress enough how crucial a good skin care regime is. You need a smooth canvas to create that flawless look (I’ll blog later about my skin care regime).

I begin by using smashbox’s photo finish light primer to help my foundation adhere better to my skin, last longer and look more polished. Then I’ll conceal any blemishes with Cle de Peau concealer in beige. It covers so well with such a small amount. It is pricey, but a little goes a long way with this product so it should last for months.

Next, I use Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. This product is incredible. I use shades 5.5 and 6.5. mixed together to get my perfect shade. I discovered it 4 years ago and haven’t found anything better on the market. I am a beauty junkie so trust that i have tried EVERYTHING worth trying. It’s sheer, oil free formula erases creases, lines and pores and gives my skin the most magnificent glow. It will set you back by roughly $60 but it’s worth every penny! Mine, however, lasts forever as I do not like to wear foundation daily so my skin can breath. I only use it for special events, dinners and while in front of the camera.

I use Chanel Double Perfection Matte Pressed Powder in cream beige during the day. I always make sure I use the right tools when applying my face. A good make up brush will actually help you save money in the long run. The cheap ones tend to eat up the product and you’ll end up using more then you need. They also prevent you from using your fingers that can create bacteria in your products. I believe brushes really make a difference. I apply this foundation with Mac’s foundation brush #190. I finish with a latex-free sponge like “The Original Beauty Blender” to pat in to to my skin for an even more natural look.

To highlight certain areas in my face, I love Yves saint Laurent Touch éclat Radiant Touch in 2.5. I swipe it under my eyes, under and above my brows, in my nasolabial folds(smile or laugh lines), and my upper chin. This highlighter makes these areas “pop” and creates the look of a well rested face.
Remember, shadow the areas you want to inject and highlight areas you want to project.

Before I set my face I sometimes use Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in a darker shade in case i missed any marks or blemishes and to further perfect my look. I use Secret Camouflage sc-5 and Mac Brush 217 as my concealer brush.

Finally, To set my face, I’ll dust Make Up Forever High Definition Powder all over. I have oily skin and my face tends to “eat up” the foundation. This setting powder will give you that flawless finish and your make up will last all day or night long.

These are the only foundations and concealers I currently use. I swear by them and I know you will too!
