My pretend boyfriend Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfelt

I thought there were some absolutely spectacular dresses at this years 2011 Emmy Awards and a near equal amount of spectacular failures--with very little in between. Red and black ruled the night.  After seeing 13 red dresses on the Red Carpet, I'm already over this trend---how about you???

Kate Winslet- (who would if made the A+ list if her red Elie Saab was one size bigger)

Gretchen Mol- in a black L'Wren Scott  beauty

Minka Kelly- Gorgeous in long sleeved navy and black lace chiffon dress (that was a hair mature)

Kerry Washington- in a strapless red Zuhair Murad (marred by carpool Mom hair)

Elizabeth Moss- in a gold lace Marchesa (with Aunt Betty's "hair do")

Rashida Jones- in a pretty pink strapless chiffon Alberta Ferretti (marred by heavy makeup)

Julie Bowen- in a silver and black deep-V lame and sequin Oscar de la Renta

Colbie Smulders- in a charming aqua Alberta Ferretti (big props for a different hue than red)

Julia Styles- in a smokey blue George Hobeika constructed chiffon confection

Sarah Hyland in a gorgeous deep coral Christian Siriano

Emily Blunt- in a very chic black Elie Saab

Anna Paquin- ravishing in a black Alexander McQueen with gold bodice details

Amy Teegarden- Adorably appopriate in a one shoulder black dress
