The Big Tease: Conair Volume & Styling Comb

Conair Volume & Styling Comb

I've said it before and I will say it again, if I could have a Bump-It surgically implanted to the back of my head I would.  Ever since I saw the original Bonnie & Clyde with Faye Dunaway, at the peak of her beauty, I've been obsessed with a little height at the crown of the hair.

I have purchased dozens of "lift" and "teasing" combs over the years, and I can handily find one in any clutch or handbag I open.  Some have a long "rat tail" end, for strategically creating an nonstrategic part. Other's have a spray of 5 talons at the end like a gap tooth "Afro pick".

Do they get the job done?

Mediocre, at best.  Better with the help of a super glue hairspray like Elnett or Warren Tricomi Super Hold.

I was at CVS on Sunday, needing to fill in on a bunch of staples, like triple size cotton balls and Burts Bee's Radiance Body Lotion.  It was here that I spied Conair Volume & Styling Comb. Upon eyeballing it, I instantly knew they had invented a better mousetrap.

It is a  3 tiered comb; the outer "teeth" are taller and spaced about 1/4 inch apart. In the center is a shorter, fine tooth comb. Between the three, they lift, roughen up and tease your hair like a pro.

The effect lasts longer and requires very little lacquer.  In short, I'm in love.

I had my hair colored by my magician, Christopher Hornauer at Warren Tricomi on Wednesday. 5 days in, my locks are limp, but I always try to really let my color take hold before washing it. I was able to put back in quite a bit of oomph, by using Conair's Volume and Styling Comb aggressively at my roots.

I can't wait to see how it looks on freshly washed locks...I will update tomorrow.

It's all in the wrist...

P.S.  I had my hair blown out by the amazing Lucas Magnum at Becker Salon today. Suffice to say that Lucas, Billie and the gang FLIPPED for it.  Lucas insisted I provide a better shot so you can see it is 3 dimensional.

And they want them stat.

  1. I agree that this is a holy grail comb for teasing....EXCEPT... I have bought 4 of them now....yes, 4!!! And every one the middle row of teeth has come loose from the rest and fallen out. Totally comes unglued. I gave up
