NYX Vinyl LIner

NYX Vinyl Liner
$6.99

Before I got lash extensions, (and yes, I finally too the plunge and will share my experiences when I have a bit more time), I used to occasionally wear false lashes on the outer third of my eye, when I needed a but more zhush.

The lash glue I used was a very good one, made by Revlon, that was black.  I loved how glossy it was and if it wasn't so sticky, I would have used it every day for a liner.

It lead me to see if anyone made a black liner that had a bit of shine.  The only one I came up with was a discontinued liner made by NYX called Vinyl. Big sob...

Makeup 101 for Aging Faces

Image courtesy of the New York Times

I think we are all aware that as we age, our beauty routine must change...As a teen a painstakingly created lower centipede lashes daily.  Now I essentially just darken them for definition with one light coat.

I have been so much happier with the New York Times beauty coverage as of late.  The articles are much more informative and relatable, thank you very much.

I've never been all that interested in what is in anyone else's makeup bag, particularly an A-lister, with a case full of Tom Ford, Chantecaille, By Terry and La Mer...lovely for you Dear, but not a single product that can go in my CVS basket...

Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara
$25.00

Bonsoir Lovelies!!!!

Its's been waaaaay too long, I know...

I have been a very busy bee this Fall, buying for our store Mary Jane
Denzer , with my amazing partner, Anastasia Cucinella, and working with our fabulous clients.

I snuck a sister's weekend in Palm Beach for a little R&R and frankly, have not been buying as many new products lately, remarkably, because I'm pretty satisfied with the current lot.  I will be updating you on a few though, I promise.

For starters, there is the beloved by many Monsieur Big Mascara, which even garnered an Allure Beauty Award for 2017.

Ladies Who Lunch: What to Wear to this Fall's Luncheons

Published 10/18/17 Fairfield County Look

By Debra O'Shea
\
Fearless Angel Project Luncheon
Co-Sponsor’s Monica Lynn and Debra OShea with Founder and Chairperson Izabela O’Brien

‘Tis the season…throughout the year Co-Chairs and their committees are busy planning benefit luncheons for their favorite causes and children’s schools. More often then not, it takes a village! When it’s all said and done, auctions and raffles are ready, tables are decoratively set and it’s showtime, not the least of which is the fashion, whether it be on the runway or simply the arrival of the guests.
Women, IMO, love the ritual of dressing for luncheons. Here is the place women dress for themselves and for other women. Husbands, who would scratch their head over a short, long sleeved, shapeless dress, worn with over the knee boots, have no say here. Undoubtedly, said ensemble would be a crowd fave:
sweater dress over the knee boots

More relevantly, one of the beautiful things about a great luncheon dress, is that a good one, is versatile and depending on accessories, can go many places as well as day to eve.
When my partner Anastasia Cucinella and I are in market, buying for our store Mary Jane Denzer at the Ritz Carlton in White Plains, we are always asking ourselves, “where is she going in this”? Beautiful dresses, that multi-task well are make sense to our clients. We get it! We are looking for the same versatility in our own wardrobes!
When I saw the David Koma dress that I wore above to the Fearless Angel Project Luncheon in Paris this past March, I knew it would be a perfect addition to my wardrobe. I could wear it to a luncheon with booties, to a cocktail party with pretty jewelry, a great shoe and a clutch, or to work, with a cotton shirt layered under it and a pair of boots.
Here are a few more looks that we have been busy selling, (since July!), for Fall luncheons:

We adore the clean lines and elegance of Roland Mouret’s dresses. Our clients adore them, because they do segueseamlessly, from day to evening.

Knit dresses continue to be a favorite. They are easy to dress up or down, and pack like a dream for travel.

There is nothing hard edged about a chic, leather dress with clean lines. Love it best in rich neutrals, like grey above.

Total Beauty's 13 Best Moisturizing Lipsticks

Totally over matte lipsticks?  I hope so...Frankly, I've never understood the trend or liked the dry, mask like feeling they impart. Funny how matte, cycles its way back into fashion every couple of years, isn't it? I guess every 20 something should experience them at least once in their lifetime .

My favorite lipsticks feel almost balm like.  Finding one that is highly pigmented, however, can be challenging.

Total Beauty  did a nice little slide of their reader and editor's favorite moisturizing lipsticks...I will absolutely being saying NO, to Cle de Peau Beaute's Chinoiserie Chic Lipstick for, deep breath now, $65!!!
And I thought Tom Ford's were outrageously priced at $50!

Seriously Lovelies, didyaevah???

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner
16 colors $22

I recently had tried and posted about Estee Lauder's Double Wear Infinite Eyeliner. I thought I had chosen well...I didn't.  As I continued to use it, it seemed to dry out.  Large chunks were breaking off and falling into my sink- literally money down the drain.

Back to the drawing board.  I lucked out completely when I picked up Stila's Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Midnight Navy.  Does it seem silly to describe an eye pencil as magnificent???  Perhaps, but I can tell you that this is my new DivaDebbi Holy Grail liner.

Eyelash Extensions- What you need to know

Photo courtesy of the NY Times

Two must read beauty articles on one week from the venerable New York Times??? Change is definitely a foot, or in this case, a face.

Bravo and thank you for a comprehensive article on the fad that is sweeping the faces of busy women everywhere.  I see them daily, on friends and clients.  And you can always spot them...I think by the time that most women are invested in the time and cost of getting extensions, "natural" = "why bother?".

Encore: Benefit's Gimme Brow

Gimme Brow
$24

Benefit has given Gimme brow a very pretty makeover.  When I first reviewed it in 2013, it was housed in a dull, baby _hit brown tube.

Still, what was inside more than made up for banal packaging. Cleverly, it is infused with tiny gel fibers, that adhere seamlessly for added fullness.  The tapered tip is created to shape, the brush to fluff, fill and define.

Here is a case of head scratching, "why did I ever stop using this?" reflection.  It is simple to use and creates fairly flawless brows.  My one tiny gripe is the itty, bitty and may I throw in one more itty bit of product that one gets, for a whopping $24.

It occurred to me, that in 4 years time, somebody must have come up with a, "dupe". 'Sho nuff, Essence a brand that is available at Target and Ulta, (and is not even on my radar,) makes one for, wait for it...$2.99!!!

Essesnce
make me brow
$2.99 (!!!)

Make me brow, is extremely well reviewed and some bloggers like it even better, than Gimme Brow.  So, any second now, when I finish up my new Gimme Brow, you know exactly what I'm going to be purchasing next.

Love you Lovelies, and you are very welcome...

Something Truly Helpful from NYT's Beauty File

I will admit that I usually don't give more than a cursory glance, to the New York Times beauty articles ...

They are often step-by-step tutorials, or celebrity "what's in my bag of very expensive tricks" lists. Somehow, they just don't resonate. Luv ya, but what's that got to do with me?

I was surprisingly pleased, to see this comprehensive tip list, from various make up artists, on how to apply mere mortal make up on a daily basis.

Hence, I'm happy to share with you Lovelies!

Worth a look IMO. Happy Sunday!

DivaDebbi's 2017 Emmy's Report Card

In my new role as Co-Owner of Mary Jane Denzer, my partner Anastasia Cucinella and I continuously searching for gorgeous evening wear for our clients Red Carpet moments.  In fact, that is what we were busy doing all day, on Emmy Sunday.

I missed all the Red Carpet arrivals, but did see most of the show and of course could research back with photos to choose my LOVES, LIKES and LOATHES.

A few trends emerged last night; many of the stars arrived in red, white, fuscia, forest green, silver and of course ubiquitous black.   The only thing that really concerns me is if it's beautiful and if it's tasteful.  I am not swayed by who designed it, or what their pedigree is either. Inevitably, a designer will have created something that makes both my LOVE and LOATHE list, (this time the amazingly talented Christian Siriano has that distinction.)

Let's get started, shall we???

LOVES:

Ravishing in red, Nicole is nearly always flawless
on the RC.  Tonight was no exception
Lovely Felicity Huffman never, ever disappoints on the RC
Here in Tony Ward, a Lebanese designer by way of Paris
who we carry at Mary Jane Denzer

Forgive me, but cause ribbons are not my favorite accessory.

I'm starting a petition to ban Jessica Biel from wearing bangs.
The heavy fringe of bangs she has been wearing for the

last few years completely obscures her stunning beauty.
She looks spectacular, head 2 toe.

THE LIKES:

A whisper more support for the Girls would have been lovely!

Yay for Edie! She truly, has never looked better!

I forgot to include a picture of Zoe Kravitz in a multi-color Dior confection! I'm still on the fence, but when I saw it from all camera angles, it is growing on me.
What did you think???

I loved everything but the wig, hence the demotion

THE LOATHES:

Musings on N.Y. Fashion Week-Spring 2018

Front row selfie with Jeffrey Ciullo
V.P. of Sales at Pamella Roland

I read something spectacular in the Business of Fashion this week! IMG, the former powerhouse behind the tents at Bryant Park and the runway installments at Lincoln Center, is planning on bringing back an organized venue for Fashion Week at Spring Studios.

Pray God, it is so, because it is complete madness to dash all over town like a ping pong ball to see shows at a half a dozen or more spaces, sprinkled all over the City.

Literally, the thrill is gone.  Fingers crossed, this will be up and running for the Fall shows in February.

My BFF is my Vogue runway app.  If you haven't downloaded it yet, stop reading please, do so and come back.

You are welcome...

Oh how I love to swipe through the collections in nanoseconds.  As Co-Owner's of Mary Jane Denzer in White Plains, my partner Anastasia Cucinella and I are always on the hunt for new talent.

Runway of course, is always exaggerated for effect and for the press.  The truly salable, wearable clothes, live back at the showroom, where the real work gets done.

Still, I don't mind seeing something that is beautiful, wearable and salable on the runway. Here are some of the trends that threaded through many of the collections:

Pretty in Pink-

Pink at Pamella Roland

Ombre Pink at Pamella Roland

 Shades of Blue-
Gorgeous blue ombre tulle at Pamella Roland

 Long blazers, Strong Shoulders, Denim-

White Days and Nights-

Gorgeous LBD'S-

And with a nod to Spring, a touch and a flourish of flowers-

In the meanwhile,  we are very excited  about all our gorgeous goodies from New York and Paris that are currently in store, at Mary Jane Denzer for Fall.

In addition to the most beautiful clothes to wear for your important events, we have added more collections to suit your every day lifestyle needs. Please do, come visit.

As we like to say, "Come Experience the Extraordinary"!

Fondly,
Debra O'Shea
