Sometimes Life is a Circus... Promoted by Balenciaga

Sometimes Life is a Circus...

I didn't win the 520 million dollar lottery, but I did have a really great week on Polyvore...essentially the equivalent.

I am incredibly honored and thrilled to have in one week, received honors for Top Sets and three corporate promotions from Nars Cosmetics, Ted Baker and Balenciaga.   In this set I included  Balenciaga's  fabulous accessories in this lighthearted set. I am so pleased they liked it.

My sets have now received over 1.1 million views and I am close to achieving my goal of 2000 followers by the end of next month.  I think it's really important to always be trying new things, striving to improve and setting and achieving goals.

Internal beauty is a gift you can choose to give yourself...

Surprise!: Promoted by Ted Baker London

Surprise!

I try to flex my creative fashion muscle on Polyvore everyday.  Some sets I love more than others.  The original inspiration was the fun shot of this model found on Elle Magazine's Tumblr site.

I imagined a woman getting dressed for a Holiday event and not having a proper place for her goldfish, so she brings him along.  Voila!  Inspiration strikes and she adds him to the centerpiece on her table!

Ted Baker London, the British design house and retailer, whose faux fur shrug I used, must have liked it too, because they selected it to promote.  His designs are so chic, on trend and intelligently priced...The next time I'm in N.Y. I'm heading to SoHo for a visit.

Thank you Ted Baker!!!

Update: Essie No Chips Ahead

$8.99
I promised to update you on my success or failure with Essie No Chips Ahead.

Here's the good news: It does a better than average job of preventing chips.  I had my last manicure on Friday, and as of today, with two coats in between, I have two, tiny crescent chips.

Here's the bad news: Essie No Chips Ahead also no dries.  As a result, my nails are dull and streaked with sheet creases.

Happily, I saved both the packaging and the CVS receipt because this puppy is going back.

And the search goes on...

Party Time: Promoted by Nars Cosmetics on Polyvore

Party Time!

I frequently check in with my "Activity feed" on Polyvore.  It's so nice to hear from my Poly pals.  To be sure, if I am lucky enough to be chosen for a Top Set honor or a Promotion from a sponsored company like Nars, I will have a steady stream of sweet, congratulatory notes waiting for me...Such was the case this evening with the set above, which Nars promoted!

It's fitting in a way, because the inspiration behind creating this set was not the clothing or scenery. My starting point was with this gorgeous teal Nars Nail Polish, Superstar, from their limited edition Andy Warhol Collection.  Inspired by his favorite muse, Edie Sedgwick in the sixties, the      collection is fun and flirty and the packaging his wonderful.

Polyvore is such a brilliant social media platform.  Brands like Nars, that cleverly partner with them reap the benefits of tremendous exposure to their target audience every day. Nars chose to promote another one of my sets before, ( http://www.polyvore.com/know_you_are_leaving_me/set?id=61345171)

To date it has received nearly 100,000 views and was "liked" by 1319 fashionistas.  Kudos to them for being the cosmetic brand of choice on Polyvore and my deep thanks for choosing to promote my sets.

For me, Polyvore is a perfect meld of mind, art, fashion and beauty and to be recognized is a great honor.

Review: Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick$8.99

I always have a lipstick or three  stashed in every handbag, but the other day I was breaking in my new exquisite Holly Caldwell bag (available at Richards) and in keeping with it's minimalist spirit, I've been keeping things tightly edited and spare.

My husband and I went to an early showing of Skyfall, (entertaining, but could have been 20 minutes shorter,) which of course included popcorn.  As we were leaving the theatre, I went to reapply my lipstick...Quelle horreur, I came up empty.

Since we were then going out for lunch, I knew I had to pick something up pronto. There is a Target in the same mall as the movies, I darted in for a quickie...Since it was Target, I thought I might end up with something from Pixie or Sonia Kushak, but the newly reformulated Revlon ColorStay Lipsticks, called "Ultimate Suede" caught my eye...there were 20 shades, many of which looked natural and quite appealing.
