DivaDebbi's SAG Report Card

Speaking of bombs and bombshells...WOWZA!!!  When pray tell, is the gorgeous Christina Hendricks going to fire her stylist and invest in a good 3-way mirror???  I have never seen her dressed well on the RC.  I usually like L'Wren Scott's designs, which are cut to flatter a woman's body...this looks more like one of Hef's old bathrobes to me.  Contrast that with another boobalicious beauty, Sophia Vergara, in a spectacular curve loving sapphire Roberto Cavalli...Nuf said.  Check out who else Passed and Failed DivaDebbi's beauty school at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards last night.

Wishful Thinking

In my youth, my skin was normal to oily. It drove me mad, particularly in the summer months, when I would invest in mattifying products by Lancome, to pre-treat my T-zone, which were amaz-ingly effective.  Every handbag was also equipped with its own set of Shiseido Pureness Oil Blotting Control Sheets, which soaked up spills quickly, without clogging my pores with heavy powder.  As a consolation, I would tell myself  wishfully,  that the silver lining to oily skin would be skin that aged well.  Happily, I wasn't wrong!

Now, however, my problem has reversed.  I find my skin feeling tight and dry during the day and I have been searching for ways to add moisture quickly without disturbing my makeup.  (Isn't it funny how we always wish for what we don't have).

Join the Club!

My CVS  beauty adventures are such a regular feature of DivaDebbi, most readers would be surprised to hear that  I am not a paid spokesperson or blogger though certainly I should be!  Those of you who have called, emailed and texted me mid-aisle for product advice or ran out to buy must latest must-have, would no doubt agree.

Nope!  For now, I'm just a satisfied, loyal customer, who appreciates their liberal cosmetics return policy.  Growing up, there was a large CVS in my home town and currently, there are several within close proximity to my all my stomping grounds.  My only deviation was when I lived in NYC, where Duane Reade's dot the landscape as frequently as ATM's and pizza joints.  Now I have another reason to be loyal to CVS and so will you:  simply join the Extracare Beauty Club to receive easy ways to save on your beauty purchases.

The Bronze Star

My "room" at work, where my clients visit me to shop by appointment, is getting a much needed face lift.  Hooray!!!  My desk is being refinished, so I had to empty it of all of its (10 year)! contents, down to the last emery board.  As a result, I stumbled across a small travel vial, that I had transferred some Sircuit Soleil Firming Mineral Self Tanner into.  OMG!!!  I have somehow forgotten about this delicious product.  After 3 days of straight compliments, I hit the web and ordered a fresh bottle.  The last one lasted for well over a year, primarily because I use it exclusively on my face.  Not only does this leave you with the most natural sun kissed glow, it does it with all natural ingredients that are good for your skin.
Here is the poop on the fabulous product:

Sircuit Soliel™ is an oil-free bronzing lotion that will give you a beautiful golden glow and have you looking like you just returned from your island holiday. (TRUE TRUE)!  Moisturizing and emollient, this unique formula is quickly absorbed into the skin, and spreads easily with a shimmering of a natural mineral pigment, ensuring you achieve a more even application.(LOVE THAT)! Raise the sophistication quotient and just say "no" to orange skin with this luxurious lotion that will leave your skin with a natural sun-kissed color, sure to make all of your A-list friends, envious. Covering all bases, the patented French botanical firming complex consisting of Terminalia Catappa Leaf Extract, Sambucus Nigra Flower Extract and Tannic Acid helps to aid in the overall improvement of the skin's appearance by firming and helping to boost the skin's radiance. Do you know of any other self-bronzers that do this?   (NOPE)! Your healthy, glowing complexion will have you looking sinfully sexy and is sure to leave them talking. Don’t worry…this will just be our little secret…K? (K)!  Bestseller. (DUH)!

4oz./120 ml. Amber Glass Bottle with Pump. $48

Da Globes

Those of you are regular DivaDebbi readers, know I live for Red Carpet events, specifically the Golden Globes, Emmy's and of course, the big kahuna, the Academy Awards.  As a Personal Shopper, I love to see magnificent gowns, jewels and beautifully styled hair and makeup.  I also relish the missteps...who doesn't???  One of my biggest pet peeves is men on the Red Carpet.  Why can't they just take their seats like gentlemen and get out of the way???  Do I care if you are in Dolce, Armani, Tom Ford or your Bar Mitzvah suit??? No...and admit it, neither do you.

Getting to Know DivaDebbi

Oh goodie...it's my turn!!!  Each week we have been sharing a little Q & A, so you could get to know more about our Blogger group.  I think it will be fun for those who know me to read and for those who don't, a more personal glimpse into my life.  Good timing,  since it is going to take a day or two for me to give you my fashion report card on the Golden Globes Green Red Carpet...(what's up with all those Lil Green Sprout gowns anyway)???

You Said a Mouthful

The Northeast got pounded with another blizzard Tuesday night.  In stillness, the beauty is jaw dropping, but the treacherous roads created countless pile ups on the roads.  Happily  Richards chose to stay closed and keep everyone home safe and sound.   Yippee....SNOW DAY!!!!!

After spending the morning in bed with a large mug of coffee, my cat Scoots  and  The Doctors, I realized I could spend a guilt free day grooming to my hearts content.   Pure bliss!

My sister Loren sent me a text  to see what I was up to on this unexpected mini holiday...

Getting to Know Kari of Fab Over Forty

I have been an avid reader of Fab Over Forty for quite some time, even before I had the chance to meet Kari at a Totalbeauty Blogger's conference in September of 09.  She is a proflific writer and focuses mostly on high end cosmetics and skin care.  She is a straight shooter and always tells the unvarnished truth.  I love her blog and since being invited to join her weekly round up group with Charleston's Best Things in Beauty, I have added many new fans and subscribers.  This week we get to know more about Kari.  I highly recommend subscribing to Fab Over Forty so you never have to miss a thing!

Bewitched

I had to laugh when I saw this candid snaphot on my Blackberry. We were at a fun and festive celebration at the new Yankee Stadium on Saturday night...There was something very Bewitched looking about this photo. I'm not sure if it was the black velvet wrap like Samantha's, or the dramatic eyes, complete with faux lashes like Endora's...perhaps a bit of both.

The fastest way I know, to add some sizzle to your own Red Carpet moments, is by sporting a full fringe of false lashes.  I am starting to notice them being worn daytime too...but mostly on the Bravoleberties from the Real Housewive franchise.

Can We Tawk???

I don't know about you, but I love me a good informercial, particularly if it's 3:00 a.m., when everything being hawked seems brilliant and life altering.  I never did go to see Joan River's recent documentary about her life, which I heard was quite poignant.  That said, she is not someone who's beauty advice I would generally consider...
