Emmy's 2010- The Post- Mortem

Well, DivaDebbi readers know by now, that  I live for the AA's. GG's and the Emmy's, now my pals at Fashism, (who just launched their i phone app today)  will too, as this post-mortem will be a featured guest  Blog, so check it out!!!  I was tweeting, scribbling  notes, saving pics on my lap top and oh yes, watching all the festivities last night.  Do we not all live for the RC disasters???  Just how does this happen we wonder every time...Designers from every nook and cranny of the planet submit their hopefuls and stylists edit, suggest and ultimately send their clients out on the RC, like sheep's to slaughter...this is my idea of heaven.  So who made it to the Pearly Gates and who needs to burn their frock (if it didn't already in Fashion Purgatory)???  Let's roll...

False Advertising

Maybe it's just a clever turn of a phrase, but Maybelline's new mascara  The Falsies Volum' Express, is flying off the shelves.  Cute name, no doubt about it and none for me, nowhere.  Onward to plan B, though I stood staring at the empty display for a good 60 seconds, willing a Falsie to appear...Nope. Nah-dah.

A Tuity-Fruity Nitty-Gritty Tale

I have the feeling that St. Ives Apricot Scrub, might be hiding under your sink, right now.  Like Bacitracin or Hydrogen Peroxide, somewhere along the way it became a bathroom staple.  Inexpensive, effective and a pioneer in the exfoliation field, I have bought it dozens of times...

I'm Rooting For You

Considering the phenomenal success of Clairol's Nice 'N Easy Root Touch-Up Kit, it's amazing we have not seen a bounty of competitors crop up in the women's hair care aisle,  (regular readers know I consider myself  it's true inventor, having used Just For Men's Beards and Moustaches to touch up my roots for years).  For a blip, Revlon introduced Root Perfect and then poof...just like that, it was gone.  When I spotted L'Oreal's new Root Rescue on a recent CVS run, I figured I better buy it now...no guarantees it was sticking around.

Time to Head South

As you know, I frequently write about all manner of anti-aging potions.  As a result, I am contacted by a large number of skin care and beauty companies, about their latest innovations for facial rejuvenation.  What I am really interested in these days, is the same amount of focus on anti-aging products for the body....so far, there's not too much out there, she wept,  but I will keep asking everyone who contacts me, what's available now or in the pipeline.

Fashionable Careers

Last month, I wrote about a new Fashion website called Fashism, ( July 9th 2010, Does This TuTu Make My Butt Look Big)?  I was immediately intrigued by the concept,  developed by its creator and founder, Brooke Moreland.  In a nutshell, people, (of every persuasion), upload photos of themselves and ask the Fashism participants to weigh in on their fashion sense.  I felt an immediate tug at my obsessive compulsive gene and have since gone on to become a regular as DivaDebbi, (who else)?  I was also intrigued enough to meet with Brooke and discuss her inspiration over dinner, with her business partner Ashley Granata.  I am convinced they are the next Larry Page and Sergey Brin...you heard it hear first folks!!!

Brooke is also a contributor for TheGloss.com,   a breezy website that covers contemporary topics.  She interviewed me about my job for their Career section.  It was published today and I have copied it for you below.  It doesn't suck to be me, or Brooke either, for that matter...

Eat, Pray and Run

A little off topic today Girls, but I would feel remiss not to warn you share this with you...I generally take weathermen and film critics edicts with a grain of salt.  Yesterday's plan was  a day of lounging at the pool, with the latest magazines and my Mom.  Since the promised blue skies never materialized, it seemed the perfect day to go see Julia Roberts playing Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love ...not even the luscious Jarvier Bardem could get us through Bali.

Enlighten Me

O.k. Girls, I can use your help!  I realized this morning that there must ONE mascara out there, that is accomplishing what the THREE I am currently using do!  Bear in mind, that mascara is one of those places that I like to cheat, if at all possible, so if you got yours at Target or CVS , you have my rapt attention.

Both Brains and Beauty

What happens when two brilliant, articulate and charming people get together for an hour of conversation?

When Lisa Wexler is doing the interviewing, (on her must hear afternoon radio talk show), The Lisa Wexler Show  and the interviewee is my Breast Surgeon, the compassionate and esteemed  Dr. Andrew Ashikari, only good will come of it.

Still Pur-fect

In October of last year, I blogged about an ingenious makeup called PurMinerals, that combines concealer, foundation, SPF 15 and face powder in one tidy compressed compact.  I don't know what's better, it's multi-tasking capabilities or the fact that it isn't sprinkled like fairy dust allover my bathroom.

Getting the Glycolic Glow (Continued)

As promised, a more scoop on my favorite products to get your glow going...

A few months back, I Blogged about the ability to purchase potent, glycolic acid for DIY peels at home, via the internet.  A client with amazing skin,  told me about it.  She now prefers doing them at home and is literally saving thousands  of  $$ each year, since she stopped visiting the Dermatologist every three weeks, to have this performed.

Getting the Glycolic Glow

A little housekeeping about my Chelsea post, for those  who were cranky with me:   I do think Chelsea is an attractive girl.  I simply think that if she chose to look more like she does, ( in the picture of her) with soft, pretty hair and makeup with a lighter hand,  she would have looked better on her wedding day.  No retraction, just a clarification and I'm sticking with it, (besides, I forewarned you)!

Since I have had to develop a thicker skin over this, I want to share with you my favorite products for shedding some, and each and everyone of them revolves around glycolic acid.  People nicely compliment me on my skin's, "glow".  I'm convinced that regular use of products that are infused with it, are responsible for keeping my skin in fighting shape...(I am a little pressed for time, so I will share the other 3 over the weekend).

Mazel Tov

O.K., if you are the kind of person who thinks, "ALL brides and babies are beautiful",  I suggest you don't continue reading.
